Farmington, New Mexico is home to plenty of chain restaurants like Chipotle, Texas Roadhouse, and Olive Garden, but don’t overlook the local spots when visiting this unique town. I visited the area in Spring of 2023 and enjoyed meals at several delicious restaurants in Farmington, from breakfast scrambles and papas to margaritas and fajitas.

Where is Farmington, New Mexico?

Farmington, New Mexico is located in the northwest corner of the state, about 3 hours from Albuquerque and 3.5 hours from Santa Fe. The city is less than an hour from Four Corners Monument and is known as an outdoor oasis.

Three Rivers Brewery & Eatery

Three Rivers Brewery is a popular spot in Farmington known for its craft beers and yummy food. There’s often a wait on Friday and Saturday nights, but it’s well worth it and you can grab a drink at the brewstillery next door while you wait. The menu boasts options like Green Chile Chicken Lasagna, Build-Your-Own Burger, and Chicken Fried Steak.

Aside from great food and drink, the restaurant boasts tons of unique decor that is fun to check out while you wait for your food. Stop in for a bite to eat and a drink Monday through Sunday from 11am – 9pm.

Si Señor Restaurant

4015 E 30th St, Farmington, NM 87402

This family-owned Mexican restaurant will not disappoint! The restaurant gets its chili peppers from the nearby Hatch Valley so they are guaranteed to be authentic and fresh. The menu offers everything from Mexican-style steaks to meat enchiladas and chimichangas. You’ll end each meal with home-made sopapillas. 

Si Señor is open for dining Monday through Thursday from 10:30am – 9pm and Friday through Sunday from 7am – 9pm.

Three Rivers Pizzeria

101 E. Main St. Farmington, NM 87401

Located right next door to the Three Rivers Brewery & Eatery, Three Rivers Pizzeria makes gourmet pizzas that the whole family will love. You’ll enjoy the delicious pizza pies, the fun environment, and can even hop over to the brewstillery after dinner for a drink.

Stop in for pizza Monday through Thursday from 3pm – 10pm and Friday through Sunday from 11am – 10pm.

Boon’s Family Thai BBQ

321 W Main St, Farmington, NM 87401

Most are surprised to learn there is an authentic Thai restaurant in Farmington, New Mexico. The menu is huge and the food delicious. You can order everything from soups and noodle dishes to curries and house specials. The restaurant also serves beer and wine. 

Dishes can be made vegetarian and they also have gluten free offerings upon request. Boon’s Family Thai BBQ is open Monday through Friday from 11am – 3pm and 4pm – 9pm. It is closed on Sundays. 

Tequila’s Mexican Restaurant

601 E Broadway Ave, Farmington, NM 87401

Tequila’s Mexican Restaurant is another great option for Mexican food in Farmington. You’ll find everything from burritos and enchiladas to fajitas and seafood dishes. They also serve margaritas, beer, wine and cocktails. You’ll leave here with a full stomach, for sure! 

The restaurant is open Monday through Thursday 11am – 9pm, Friday 11am – 9:30pm and Sunday 11am – 8pm.

The Chili Pod

121 W Main St, Farmington, NM 87401

The Chili Pod on Main Street is a great spot for some delicious New Mexican fare. I highly recommend the New Mexican Mac & Cheese. It is super tasty with just a little bit of spice. Sam was in heaven with the fajitas as they were able to make them gluten-free.

The restaurant also offers a full bar menu with delicious cocktails. I had the strawberry house margarita and it was pretty and tasted delicious.

The Chili Pod is open Monday through Saturday 11am-9pm and closed Sundays. 

Doña Maria

1930 San Juan Blvd. Ste. I. Farmington, NM 87401

If you haven’t realized it from this list, Farmington, New Mexico is home to some excellent Mexican restaurants and Doña Maria is no exception. The restaurant is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner (except for Sunday when it closes at 4pm). 

Stop in to enjoy chilaquiles, enchiladas, tacos, and so much more. 

Weck’s

2800 E Main St, Farmington, NM 87402

Weck’s is an excellent choice in Farmington for breakfast or brunch. It is open daily from 6:30am until 1:30pm and is a great place to grab a bite to eat with family or colleagues. The restaurant has several locations throughout the southwest and houses a large menu with delicious options. They also offer a large gluten-free menu which is great for those with celiac disease or a GF diet.

I recommend trying papas if you haven’t had them before. They’re super filling and very tasty! You can add different veggies and/or meats to make them extra filling.

I was pleasantly surprised with the variety and number of food offerings in Farmington. Each restaurant has its own unique touch and helps make Farmington truly something special. I highly recommend trying out as many of these options as possible during your visit to this hidden gem of a city.

  1. Didn’t you stop at Porters? Largest Salad Bar in Farmington with ingredients that make the Salad Bar a meal in itself. And…, there signature dishes like Moms meatloaf and the like are very good. Dont forgot Carrot Cake for dessert.
